Non-alcoholic halal beer
When you buy non-alcoholic beer, you would expect there is no alcohol in it. However, this is not always the case. Dutch beer brewers are allowed to sell their beer as 'alcohol-free' when it contains a maximum of 0.1% alcohol. For beer brewed abroad and sold in the Netherlands, the limit is 0.5% alcohol. So there may still be some alcohol in your alcohol-free beer. For Muslims, this is a problem; alcohol is strictly forbidden in Islam, even if it is just a drop: "What makes the much of it intoxicating, the little of it is haram." In other words, much of the beer sold as 'alcohol-free' is therefore not halal. Fortunately, you can always turn to Sinalcoholshop. After all, we have halal beer in our range!

It is completely alcohol-free and is certified by the World Halal Union. This organisation is dedicated to setting up standards and only issues a certificate when both the product itself and the way it was produced comply with Islamic rules.
Are other 0.0 beers also halal?
There are several ways to make non-alcoholic beer, for example by means of:
- Distillation or de-alcoholisation: the beer is heated, causing the alcohol to evaporate.
- Premature breakdown of the fermentation process: this occurs at the moment the yeast cells are about to convert sugars into alcohol.
- Non-alcoholic fermentation: special yeasts are used that hardly produce any alcohol. The fermentation also usually takes place at a lower temperature.
- Blending: this method involves no alcohol at all; ingredients are mixed so that it tastes like brewed beer.
It is not possible to make completely alcohol-free beer with every method. Only alcohol-free beer with 0.0% on it can be assumed to be truly alcohol-free. In theory, 0.0% beers are halal beers, but most do not have halal certification.
